Major Richard I. Bong

This is a envelope and card I received from a Navy veteran of WWII. It is a letter from Dick Bong, America's highest scoring ace ever with 40 victories, responding to a fellow Navy veteran. The writing on the envelope and card are that of Richard I. Bong. It also comes with a letter of provenance from Mr Clifford stating how he obtained it. The envelope is dated Jan 29 but the year is hard to visually make out however Bong was awarded the MOH on Dec 12, 1944 and he was killed in a plane crash on Aug 6, 1945, thus the year of the postmark has to be 1945. This is one of the finest pieces in our collection. SOLD!
